Daisy delivered coal on Tuesday the 5th and Chet took breakfast with Captain Trott on board of her.
As inspector McKenzie had not been there Chet could not leave so I am here again tonight to go again early in morning if wind is easy. Brought bag of dry goods from station and took them over. Took supper and had a play with Chetsie and kittens. Got key to Alice. R at Frank Gilman’s and came home as tired as a dog.
Sun. Sept. 10 At home. Went to Station
Left at 5:50 for Station1 hr +40m going. Fresh south on broad lake. Inspector not around yet. Chet and I got 5 pike. Three visitors in yacht Echo, sail. From Burlington. Game me two bottles of beer. Came home without supper but got some of Chet’s gave pike to them.
Francie is sick to-day + to-night, + Ruth + Ray are troubled. I don’t blame them; they have children enough of their own to worry about. I’m very tired to-night, + my legs ache so I can hardly go. ½ doz bananas to Chetsie.

I divided and carried 2/3 of both over to Ruth, and some little tomatoes to Chetsie, + he was much pleased. Started for home at 9 and now am boiling taters and frying pork for supper.

Got cucumbers of Clara for green, sour, pickles: large ones an experiment. She also gave me three nice large beets. Went down to the boat, but thought best to wait until mng.
Henry came home from Shaeffer’s while I was there. He gave his father $20.00 the money he earned at Shaeffer’s, and his father now has for the money, slate enough to cover his house. I think Henry deserves great credit for doing a very sensible and praiseworthy act.
I don’t know of another boy around here who would do such a thing.
Received a letter from Mr. Geo. E. Whitney Manager of B.B.B. Assn. to whom I wrote Sept. 8, thanking me for so doing.
Chet, or rather his wife, received from same source a check fro $100.00 for services rendered Mr. Whitney on night of June 30 last. Good for Mr. Whitney and Chet both.
