On March 16th, 2007, Dr. Rob Williams and filmmaker James Valestro came to Shelburne to work with a group of 6-8th grade SCS students on creating media literacy short films. The four middle school teams addressed the following media related health issues that directly impact teens and pre-teens: alcohol-use, fast food, body image and self-esteem. The daylong workshop with middle school students also exposed some of the secrets of the advertising industry and the media's ability to persuade both youth and adults.
