Diana Burritt to Present at National Conference
"You Did THAT in Music Class?"

Diana Burritt, K-3 Music Educator at the Shelburne Community School, and David Cranmer, Production Coordinator at RETN will be co-presenting at the fall conference of the National School Board's Technology and Learning Conference to be held in Atlanta.
Their presentation will highlight, "The Beethoven Project," developed by Diana.  A Music Enrichment Group of K-6 students chose to make an interactive television program on, "The Life and Music of Beethoven," for their winter project, which was shown throughout the District.
Students selected their roles as researchers, reporters, or production crew.  Using the Internet as a research tool, they each developed their own presentations.  Working with RETN (Regional Educational Television Network), they were able to create and produce their own show.  The program was shown live on the cable system with classrooms from two other schools participating by phone.

"Building Bridges With Technology," Video Selected For National Award!

The video program of this year's interactive music classes involving Shelburne Community School, Charlotte Central School and RETN, "Building Bridges With Music Technology," has been selected for the National School Boards Association Exemplary Arts and Education Technology Showcase at their November conference. The project was judged by a panel of the NSBA's ITTE: Education Technology Program and the Kennedy Center's ARTS EDGE network.
Ours was one of three projects, nationally, to be selected for the Showcase. The video will be shown at the general session of the NSBA's annual technology meeting in Atlanta in November. Diana Burritt of Shelburne Community School and Dave Cranmer of RETN have been asked to participate in a roundtable discussion with the other winners at a luncheon on Friday the November 9th.
Dave and Diana have also been invited to present a workshop at the
conference on the "Beethoven Project" collaboration among Shelburne Community School, Charlotte Central School, Hinesburg Elementary School and RETN in 2000.
