Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

1.          Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756.

 

2.        He died in Vienna, Austria, on December 5, 1791.

 

3.        Mozart had 5 names! Johannes Crysostamus Wolfgang Theopholis Mozart!

 

4.            Wolfgang began harpsichord lessons at age 2 ½, and composed his first piece of music at age 3.

 

5.        Mozart’s father, Leopold, was a violinist and composer.

 

6.        Mozart began violin lessons at age 6.

 

7.        Wolfgang’s hobbies included dancing, and board games, like chess.

 

8.        By the time he was 7, Wolfgang would compose music while he played it, without having to write it down first.

 

9.        Wolfgang Mozart wrote his first 4 symphonies at the age of 8.

 

10.     Wolfgang and his wife, Constanze always had pets.  They loved dogs, cats, and birds. He even had a pet grasshopper.

 

11.       Although Wolfgang and his wife had 6 children, only two of them lived more than a year.  Their names were Karl Thomas and Franz Xavier Wolfgang.

 

12.  When Mozart needed money, he would plan a concert, and write a new piece of music for it.  If he did not finish writing out the music in time for the concert, he would play from memory, with a blank piece of paper in front of him.  The audience thought he was reading music.

 

13.  One of Mozart’s most famous operas was The Magic Flute.

 

14.  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived to be 35 years old.
