The Introducing of Karley

Hi! My name is Katie. I’m on Aurora and I have an odd dog. She is a mutt. I call her a Corbeaderlabard. (Corgi, Beagle, Labrador, and Sheppard.) Her name is Karley. She was a rescued dog. Well actually her mom was rescued. Here is the story: my neighbor’s friends were over at her house and they had just gotten a dog named Marley. When they were leaving, they had stopped at a store near my neighborhood and let Marley out. Then she ran away into my neighborhood. She was lost for three weeks and had a leash dragging behind her. And, apparently, she was pregnant with six puppies. When she was finally found she was taken to a family animal shelter called S.O.S. Short for Save Our Strays. The first night she was there, her puppies were born. She barked! That was probably the first time she barked in her entire life she was so gentle! She was only 11 months old and it was her 2^nd litter! We visited a couple days later. We kept on visiting for 5 weeks. On the 6^th week, we got to adopt one! I know you are supposed to adopt puppies when they are 8 weeks old, but since Marley was so young, we got to adopt one at 6 weeks! We chose the runt of the litter, which was Karley. Karley had a twin, sort of. She had the exact same markings as Karley, except she was louder! (Meaning she barked a lot!) But when we brought Karley home, she was yapping! She was probably terrified! Here is how we came up with the name; well, actually we didn’t come up with the name. My dad’s friend did. We wanted a name that would remind us of Marley. At first we thought of Boots or Socks because all her paws are white. But then we thought; “That doesn’t remind us of Marley.” So my dad’s friend called us and came up with the name Karley. We thought; that’s a pretty good name and it will remind us of Marley!

Some Things about Karley

Here are some things about Karley; She can jump through the hula hoop, my sister and I like to dress her up, she can tap dance with a little help from me or my sister, she is full grown but still tiny, when she is happy her tail is curled up, she has 3 beds which makes her kind of spoiled, she likes to dig at things, and that is pretty much all I can think of.

Karley’s Halloween

Last year for Halloween, she was a devil. This year she might be a monkey. She is pretty funny as a monkey!

When Karley gets Mad!

But she isn’t all that cut and cuddly you might think she is! If you get her mad, she gets really-no, really, really mad! She can be pretty vicious sometimes!

Karley’s Boo-Boos

Now I will tell you some of the times where Karley has been hurt. One time in winter when she was just a few weeks old, I accidentally dropped her on the pavement on her back! But she was tough and immediately rolled over on her belly. And then when she was a little older, my dad stepped on her paw. That has actually happened a couple times, with my mom and dad. And then when she was a lot older, my sister was swinging a pair of knitting needles holding onto the non-pointy end. Then Karley accidentally got in the way and the pointy end of the knitting needles scratched or poked-I don’t remember which one-her in the eye. She yelped, but she seemed OK after.

Karley’s Holiday’s

Now I will tell you about Karley’s Holidays. On her birthday, which is on November 11^th, we give her a present. Last year, on her 1^st birthday, we gave her a squeaky mallard duck. We had wrapped it in newspaper but she didn’t know what to do with it. Finally my sister had to un-wrap it for her. She loved it so much that now it is nothing! She tore it apart, squeaker and all! On her 2^nd Christmas, Karley wanted to start un-wrapping one of my sister’s presents! She literally started chewing on the ribbon and un-raveling it! One time we went to a fair and they were selling dog toys. So we bought Karley a sheep and a pelican. She has already torn apart the sheep (but my mom sewed it back up.) The pelican is luckily still “alive.” And on her 2^nd birthday, my sister and her friends walked down to Petfood Warehouse because it is just down the road from my house. And they bought her 2 toys. A giraffe and a pig. She has already torn off a corner of one of the pig’s arms. But she has not done any damage to the giraffe. (Yet.) I think that is it for Karley’s Holidays.
