- The sources of shelter are that if it is made by humans, it will most likely be made out of brick, wood, or other reliable surfaces. The weather does not make houses. Only humans can build houses suitable for other humans.
Threats
Floods threaten shelter. They threaten it by causing houses to fall over and floods also wipe out houses and towns. Floods also kill people. People drown in floods and it takes away their air and they drown. Floods are a big threat to Basic Human Needs ("Floods And Flash Floods").
Solutions
Some solutions are warning systems. They will go off when a flood is expected. That will help people evacuate the town and get away from the floods. It could save many lives and people could take most of their possessions from their house with them. Another solution could be barriers around a town. The barriers would stop the floods from entering, but it would be hard to get in and out of town in regular life. It would be a big hassle but if you get a lot of floods, it could save your life ( Doehring).
