The Shelburne History Project

Introduction

This project was designed to help children know more about the buildings and the history of their town.  It began in the fall of 2001, with a walking tour around town.  At that time, the students learned about each building and a picture was taken to bring back to the classroom.  Next, they took a tour of our town on a school bus to see buildings farther away from our school.  Pictures were taken and descriptions of each building were given.  The children researched a building assigned to them and learned architectural terms, which became part of their report.  They then sketched their building and created an artistic image.  These reports and images were put into book form to be presented to the Pierson Library and the Gus Mercaldo School Library.  Funds were granted from the Shelburne PTO to defray the cost of printing and binding.  Thanks to the efforts of Lissa Cenis and Greg Thweatt in creating this web page.
