Welcome to Adventurers’ Parentlink message for Friday, June 6^th.

Our last full week of the school year was full of special activities that the students had brainstormed last week. Each day individual students shared their special talents, which included everything from musical recitals, magic, gymnastics, and story telling.

On Monday morning the whole school gathered outside to sing together. Each team wrote a verse about themselves to a familiar melody. It was a fun event.

Tuesday was “Movie Day”, in the morning we watched home movies that students brought in of themselves. In the afternoon students chose from a selection of science videos: (Volcanoes, and Wild Cats) and tall tales (Finn McCoul and Pecos Bill).

Wednesday was “Clifford the big Red Dog” day. Everyone was dressed in red, we read Clifford books, went on a parade around the school and had a visit from Clifford himself. In the afternoon we wrote and illustrated our own Clifford stories and did Clifford math activities.

Thursday was science day, with afternoon activities using magnets, ice, and gears.

        Friday was our big trip to the Montshire Museum. This week the Parentlink is being sent on Friday morning, before our departure, so you’ll have to get the full report on the day from your child. You can ask about the “Digging in the Dirt” program, the exhibits/activities around the museum, and the nature trails outside. Thanks to the parents who helped chaperone, and thanks again to the PTO funding and all those who have helped make it possible for us to take so many trips this year.

Coming up for our final days of school;  Monday will be “Sports day” and we’ll have some fun outdoor activities. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately to be outside in the grass and wears sneakers.

Tuesday, our last full day of school will be clean-up day and we will also celebrate all our summer birthdays with ice cream sundaes, and if you have a blender and the enthusiasm to help make 40 sundaes, we would love to hear from you.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing everyone at the Adventurers year-end family picnic, followed by the team sleepover on Tuesday, June 11^th (check your lavender letter for details). If you have any questions, we hope you will contact us.

Please check that your child has returned all Accelerated Reader books from our classroom. We’ll be doing a full inventory and updating the collection this summer, but it is a shame to have to replace books that we have previously purchased.
