How do Adventurers use classroom computers?

Although we do not believe computers should be a primary learning tool with six, seven, and eight year olds, Adventurers are encouraged to develop independent learning skills, and the use of classroom computers supports this philosophy.  To a limited extend Adventurers have the opportunity to use computers as personal tools, for writing, practicing math, drawing, and reference.

Adventurers are introduced to using the computer for word processing, using the internet as a reference tool.  Students also use the computers Math tools, Accelerated Reader quizzes, Kidspiration, Graph Club, WizardSpell.

Through these kinds of applications, students become comfortable with basic desktop skills i.e. opening and saving a file. They also get accustomed to using the internet as a reference resource, using the carefully monitored internet websites.
