WORTH AND COMPETENCE 3.1 GOAL SETTING:

Grades K-2, (5-8 year-olds)

Grades 3-5, (8-11 year-olds)

Grades 6-8, (11-14 year-olds)

Students assess their own learning by developing rigorous criteria for themselves, and use these to set goals and produce consistently high-quality work. This is evident when students:

· Assess strengths.

· Set personal performance guidelines.

Students demonstrate respect for themselves and others. This is evident when students:

· Understand the need to react appropriately to what others read, view or listen to.

· Know the importance of giving credit to sources.

· Follow school rules for use of the Internet and other information technologies.

· Let others express their own ideas and read listen or view what they want.

· Put someone else's words in quotes.

· Create bibliography to credit sources.

· Not copy other peoples work.

· Understand it is against the law to copy computer disks, tapes or other materials.

· Follow school rules for use of the Internet and other information technologies.

· Share electronic resources and follow appropriate guidelines for their use.

· Follow rules regarding information technology and accepts consequences for broken rules.

· Never intentionally cause damage to any materials or equipment.

· Understand it is important to have many different perspectives on a subject.

· Understand the right to express one’s own opinion and offer opinions in appropriate manner.

· Follow copyright laws and guidelines by giving credit to all quotes and ideas, citing them in notes and bibliography properly.

· Only make copies of print, software, tapes, etc. when locating permission from author or other materials.

· Access information in a reasonable amount of time so others can also use materials.

· Follow guidelines for use of information technology and use resources efficiently.

· Follow rules and never intentionally keep materials from being available to others.

· Report any damage immediately.

· Offer information and ideas.

· Evaluate own role.

· Apply certain criteria to a group product with support.

· Do what is needed to help determine information needs of group.

· Encourage team members to share ideas.

· Offer and defend information brought to the group.

· Contribute to the group and demonstrate ability to use a variety of presentation methods.

· Effectively evaluate their role and the roles of others.
