Active listening- demonstrate strategies such as using facial expressions, verbal cues, eye contact, and body response.
Awareness of- conscious of; sensible; pre-cognizant.
Community- classroom, team, school, town, nation, world.
Differing governments- local, state, national, world governments.
Energy 1) Energy transformations:
2) Conservation of energy: Whenever energy is reduced in one place, it is increased somewhere else by exactly the same amount.
"Fair test " of hypothesis- a test in which only one variable at a time is changed.
Fields of Knowledge- the content areas that are combined and applied to achieve the Vital Results.
Ideas- thoughts, opinions, convictions, principles, plans, methods.
Identify- to name, list, describe if applicable.
Interpret- to offer an explanation, to clarify the meaning of.
Investigate- To observe or inquire into.
Life-styles- an internally consistent way of life, or style of living that reflects the attitudes and values of an individual or a culture.
Multiple intelligences- verbal/linguistic, mathematical/logical, visual/spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal intelligences identified by Howard Gardner in "Frames of Mind" (1983).
Principles- basics truths, rules, laws, standards.
Recognize- to know or identify from past experiences or knowledge.
Skills- what students should be able to do; ways of thinking, working, communicating, and investigating.
Team culture- Daily team/classroom interactions (e.g. attendance, journal writing, conferences, teacher to student interactions, student to student interactions, and parent involvement).
Understand- to know thoroughly by long experience of: to perceive the significance of; know.
Various groups- racial, ethnic, and gender groups, and various socioeconmic classes (History/Social Sciences standards).
Vital Results- Broad expectations of what students should know and be able to do.
Vital Results Standards- specific statements of what ALL students should know and be able to do. These establish the degree and quality of performance that students are expected to attain.
